Convert XMZX to XMDX

Converting an XMZX file to an XMDX file within the ExamSoft ecosystem is typically part of the secure process of handling exams. These two file types serve different purposes within the ExamSoft platform:

• XMZX files are encrypted exam files that are downloaded to the ExamSoft SofTest application by students.
• XMDX files are the encrypted answer files that are generated when students complete and submit their exams.

In general, you cannot directly convert an XMZX file to an XMDX file because the conversion is part of the exam-taking process. Here’s how the process works:

1. Download the XMZX file: The student receives the XMZX file from their institution via ExamSoft. This file contains the exam content.
2. Take the exam in SofTest: Once the exam is opened and completed in the SofTest application, the answers are automatically saved and encrypted.
3. Generate the XMDX file: After the exam is completed, SofTest converts the answers into an XMDX file containing the students' encrypted responses. This file is then uploaded back to ExamSoft for grading and review.

Essentially, the conversion happens automatically when you submit your exam. Direct manual conversion between XMZX and XMDX is impossible outside of this process.
