SMS backups (.sme) created using Samsung Kies can be opened and saved messages exported as CSVs. Once this is done, CSV files can be then exported as XMLs files. You can also probably find some 3rd party apps on Android Market that could do the same.
The database currently does not contain any sme file converter.
