Many CAD / 3D modeling tools nowadays support conversion of 3D ACIS models (.sat) to STEP product files (.stp, .step). You can usually achieve sat to step conversion simply via the "Save as.." or some kind of "Export " function, something a special plugin is required to add additional support for certain formats or conversions.
