It seems that mmap to emm conversion pretty much represents export of of mind-maps from MindManager format (.mmap) to MindMaple format (.emm). Such export is certainly doable with MindMapple, because it supports import of MindManager format just fine. As for any alternative tools, we do not know about any at this time.
