Everything points to the fact that both .gdc and .daa files are disk images, albeit from very old and most likely also discontinued tools. Converting these is still doable, for whatever reason you might need it, but you will have to obtain the apps somewhere on the Internet, perhaps on one of the abandonware websites. Using standard ISOs makes much more sense nowadays though.
