Even though it is not a conversion in the traditional sense, you can easily convert Audio Video Interleave files directly to Adobe Premiere Projects (.mp4 to .pproj conversion). Your only option is using the original software, since PPROJ is a proprietary file format, and thus not supported by third-party applications.
You can import AVI videos easily to an existing/new Adobe Premiere Pro project, which can then be saved in PPROJ format.
